M.O.M.S. – MOMS OF MARINES SUPPORT WEBSITE:
It’s 7200 miles between Mayberry Midwest, USA and Okinawa, Japan. I feel every mile. This is a time when I greatly appreciate the advances in communication technology. I thank God for the wonderful men and women who keep military families so well informed of their children’s whereabouts and well-being. And I thank God for Facebook! This is the means by which I’m able to chat live with my guy from 7200 miles away, across an ocean and continents I’ve only seen through the eyes of National Geographic and cable TV.
Unfortunately, they’re not allowed to leave the base, and therefore can’t see God’s handcrafted beauty of Japan. He’s disappointed – OF COURSE – and bored out of his head. He’s already looking forward to our first care package which will depart our post office first thing Monday morning. It will be interesting to see how long it takes for the package to get to him, and if he will still be in Okinawa or neatly stoyed away on the USS Denver.
Miss you, my guy. So thankful to ‘hear’ your voice, albeit silently, through cyberspace. God will be your hope and your anchor, and I will be forever…. your Mom. All my love…
